| Xelkelvos posted:They're just flying through the series then if they're at that part already. I guess they cut out a bunch of stuff to focus on the core story which is probably for the best anyways The pace definitely feels breakneck (Mai's engaged now, Moriya just confessed to Keisuke), but like you said it feels like it's for the best. I'd rather it ends with a satisfying resolution now instead of being too slow and fishing for a second season. I'm also more likely to buy the manga afterwards to check out how the story originally played out instead of waiting a year for another season. |

People who had prepurchased their tickets got them unceremoniously refunded. I'm fuckin' pissed. cringe to the max |

Without having watched the anime, I assume a lot of it is just those plot threads being more drawn out and extended as they developed, but they're sorta on the side and not directly supporting the core plot involving Keisuke and Marika. The series is 111 Chapters over 14 volumes and it's been compressed to a single cour just to give perspective. There is definitely a bit of fluff that can be cut out like a lot of the SoL school life stuff that Marika has going on. But obviously a lot has been comrpessed and may be detrimental to some of the characters involved, but they're nominally secondary to the core plot. |

Yeah, it feels like a lot of the side characters are meant to have more going on. There's inklings of that in the show (Marika's classmates, Moriya's inexperience with men, Chika's coworker that was raised by a single mother, and more), but I can see why they spent only enough time on them to move the main plot along. They don't feel underdeveloped at least, since the anime seems so laser focused on the primary story and its core cast. I can see how it may not be great if you're a fan of the series wanting to see it animated, but knowing it's got that much more going on has got me more excited to check out the manga. If 24-26 episode seasons were still a thing I wonder if that would help with its pacing a bit. |
